Innovative Ukrainian Drones Cause Six Fatalities in Russia: Moscow Reports

by admin477351

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Ukraine has conducted one of its most extensive drone offensives against Russia since the war’s inception, Russian officials reported. This attack resulted in the death of at least six individuals and triggered a substantial fire at a distribution warehouse near Moscow. The Russian Defence Ministry claimed that 1,478 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over a single day, marking the highest number recorded in a 24-hour period, though these figures remain unverified.

Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin revealed that approximately 600 drones targeted the Moscow region, with 201 reportedly neutralized. The assault led to the death of one person in the region. One of the most severe incidents involved a fire at a Wildberries distribution center near Podolsk, located about 25 miles south of Moscow’s center. The 250,000-square-meter warehouse sustained significant damage, according to Ukraine’s military, which suggests that the facility was involved in military logistics.

Ukraine’s use of long-range drones to strike deep within Russian territory underscores its evolving strike capabilities, even as Russia continues its own drone and missile assaults on Ukrainian urban areas and infrastructure. Amid these developments, Russian attacks in Ukraine resulted in at least seven fatalities, including victims in Kryvyi Rih and the Sumy region. A missile strike on Kyiv injured six people and set off fires, notably destroying several businesses at a major book market.

Adding to the tensions, a Spanish fighter jet participating in a NATO patrol reportedly intercepted and shot down a suspected Russian drone that had entered Romanian airspace. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of persistently targeting civilian infrastructure, citing over 1,550 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided bombs, and 62 missiles launched against Ukraine over the past week. The intensifying use of long-range weaponry by both nations raises the stakes, with increased risks of casualties and damage extending well beyond the immediate front lines.
