by admin477351

Iran has firmly denied any involvement in the conflict unfolding in Yemen, asserting that the Houthi forces act autonomously and make decisions independently. According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, Tehran does not meddle in Yemen’s internal matters and has dismissed accusations tying Iran to the latest developments between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Baghaei emphasized that the roots of the conflict are deeply embedded within Yemen itself.

In a related development, a scheduled meeting in Oman, which was to involve Iran and Gulf countries, has been postponed at the behest of Saudi Arabia. This meeting aimed at discussing regional security and fostering cooperation among the involved parties. Despite this delay, Baghaei assured that Iran and Oman have finalized an agreement concerning maritime routes through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The two nations are now set to determine the next steps forward.

Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, echoed the sentiments regarding the meeting’s postponement, highlighting the intention to bolster regional consensus. He reiterated Oman’s steadfast commitment to dialogue and emphasized the importance of regional stability and long-term cooperation.

The talks in Oman were poised to provide a platform for Iran and Oman to showcase their understanding over critical maritime routes, a subject of significant strategic interest in the region. However, despite the postponement, the finalized agreement between Iran and Oman indicates progress in their bilateral relations and a shared vision for navigating the challenges in the Strait of Hormuz.

As tensions in Yemen continue, Iran’s insistence on non-involvement underscores the complexities of the conflict, which remains rooted in Yemen’s own socio-political landscape. The developments around the postponed regional meeting reflect the delicate balancing act required to foster dialogue and cooperation in the Middle East.
